need help with a question

    the question is : Describe the methods of removing a specimen of weld from a suitable position in the joint (such as a stop/start position), using a non thermal process (such as hand saws, power saws, abrasive discs).

    Are you writing test papers for some person or organisation by any chance.
    Wouldn’t really have described a cutting disc as non thermal, it removes material by friction heating up the particles. if you’ve ever seen a disc in use at night, you’ll know what I’m getting at.
    Whenever I’ve seen weld samples prepared they can be removed by any one of the methods you described, then polished to a high finish usually on a linishing machine before acid etching to bring out the structure

    The answer is machining and using recirculation (cooling) cutting fluid.

    That is how weld samples are prepared for HAZ examination.
