[Need Help] Replace oil on 20T Epco Hydraulic press

Hey Guys !

Recently I've bought (for 50€!) a 20Ton Epco hydraulic press and I decided to change the oil and the hydraulic hose but the problem is that the oil isn't holding inside the pump... I'm being dumb or the pump should hold the oil ? I did a brief test before taking it apart and it was aparently working as it should.

Doesn't matter if the pump is retracted or not , isn't holding anyway

Should I fill the oil with the hose attached ?

If u have Hydraulic oil use it, norm tract/digger oil is 46 grade.....
or
the pink automatic g/box oil....Dexron.....either will do nicely......
no need to get fancy......
ALSO
it may have a leaky seal....if so use a little of gearbox oil stop leak....made by Wynns and others.....
My 25 ton Tangy hyd jack also used on my press had a leaky seal, not that bad but always wet......
used the stop leak trick must be 10 years ago and still good.....the repair seal kit was around £30......

My workshop press is wet on the seal - I might try this myself.

Yup, I bought mannol hydro 46 so it should work fine.

Mine isn't wet , the strange thing is the oil passing directly to the floor

You should be able to download a parts catalogue which might be of help. If the oil is passing to the floor you have a leak, possibly a seal or hose? Epco hydraulic press is well worth having, way better than any of the modern rubbish that’s available so worth repairing.

@Melvyn Best true ! Much better than what I was going to buy . Do you know where I can find the parts catalog for this press ? I've a leak on the jack so I disassemble it but now I don't know how I can find these parts
