Hi guys,
I need a new TIG, while my R-tech is getting things done, its no longer suitable for the amount of work I am doing with it.
I need a professional bit of kit now as while Im achieving good results, a better welder would make my life a lot easier.
The problem, I dont have £4-6k cash in the bank for the machine I require so I either have to see if the bank will give me a loan or go through a supplier that does a pay weekly/monthly scheme.
Another point, I don't have three-phase, except off a 26kva static generator. Fine for running the folder or saw for a few minutes, not good listening to the drone it makes welding for hours.
I've narrowed it down to a few machines, a Miller Dynasty 280dx with cooler or a EWM Tetrix 230 with cooler.
At the minute I'm siding towards the miller, it gives me the highest current possible from 32amp 230V supply, and from what I've used I know they are good, easy to use machines. The extra 50amps over the EWM could really come in handy when I am making up aluminium handrails with 10 or 12mm plate.
With the EWM i really like the analog knobs to control the balance and frequency something I do find myself changing a fair bit. Couldn't personally deal with having to access different menus like on a kemppi.
I also need to factor in the cost of the cooler, torch, pedal.
Can anyone provide their own personal opinion between the two machines and point me towards a supplier who may have a pay monthly scheme/finance type arrangement?
Many Thanks
Brad
