Hi I'm new to welding. I'm looking for help buying a new tig welder. I'm mainly going to be using it on ac. My budget is max 2000£. Any help is greatly appreciated
and what you will be welding
Are you wanting to spend all of that £2000 and go for something real nice?
Okay, very good budget. You'll get something very nice for that.Yeah exactly! Thanks for any help

Ah okay, You'll need around the 200A mark, possibly 220ish.The max thinking is about 6mm. Are Lincoln electrics as good as the price? I wanna buy something compact but powerful?
Would you get an EWM AC/DC for £2K ?Ewm.
not the 230 Tetrix you won't.Would you get an EWM AC/DC for £2K ?
Lincoln's v205 isn't American it's made by selco which is Italian. That said it's more than proved it's worth. Hotrodder has had his neary 2 decades and I believe he's dropped it about on a number of occasions.Ah okay, You'll need around the 200A mark, possibly 220ish.
If you're not overly concerned about size / weight then I reckon the Oxford TIG Maker 220E with Pulse etc.. would be a very good shout.. Made in UK, very robust, welds lovely, simple to use.
If size / weight is a big thing, I'd be going for the GYS 207 or 208 if you want water cooled.
Lincoln aren't overly impressive IMO, just like most american brands you're paying for the name / hype rather than the amazing quality of european brands. Now thats not to say Lincoln are bad, its just saying that you can get more for your money.
