Ah yes I remember that thread.


Mine seems to eat starter motors too. Its had the original one, one pulled off a clone for a short while & a recon of the original followed by a new genuine one. Its just started to play up but I am thinking its more ring gear than starter but have not confirmed that yet. Thats all in 2 1/2 years.

when the original clone starter went it wouldnt turn the engine fast enough so i replaced it, and whatever went wrong with the second maybe a wiring fault not really sure but it caused the solenoid to stay engaged and caused the fire, so i pulled the solenoid off the original motor and put it onto the the one that caused the fire and it produced the original symptoms it turned out the one of the coils in the solenoid had become disconnected so i repaired it and it worked perfect, i also rewound the burnt solenoid which also worked perfect
