Yes that makes a massive difference, the amount of amps required from a 110 volt compared to a 230 volt is very significant and much less.
So what is the requirements of the machine? Starting to sound as though it could be plugged into a standard ring main? Using a simple volts, amp, watts calculator will give you an indicator of what is required for this piece of equipment.

It will be a temporary arrangement for say a year so she can work it all out and see what direction she will take, will training be the main part of her business or will she need to be more hands on? maybe training a few days a week and a few days hands on, the machines were a very special price and had to be bought, we shall see how it goes. I will set up the main machine on a 13 amp adapter to see what it actually draws, maybe using a clamp meter? one of the service engineers recons it only draws around 10 amps although the data plate states 30 amps max, but maybe something has been lost in translation as it is made in the USA and was designed for 120v, maybe the draw is far less on 240v, but I am no sparky! They arrive on Tuesday............................. as for my wiring, I did it when I built the house 40-45 years ago, it is fine................ but the CU is plastic and under the stairs so.............

id say do it as a job and only do the training with her paid employees with contracts that say if they leave they gave to pay for there training

I'm sure you, your daughter know and understand how you business plan will work best for you.

IMO, there is no 45 year old wiring installation throughout the world that should be considered " fine ".

My workshop must be about 40M from my house consumer board, from there to the shop i have run 10mm shower cable to a small board which runs lights, sockets and a seperate fuse for the 16A socket. never had and problems with tripping or power loss due to distance @Matchless

Or keep mouth shut and get on with earning a living and balls to the government, insurance companies, HMRC etc etc etc...

as above if only for a short while 6 months to a year do what you need to do to get her up and running id prob get a qoute for the new main board with rcbos with what required spec for socket and over the time shes there pay off (or if shes got the money up front) im sure a quick fag packet calc would get a ruff idea of electic she will use and let her pay that as well id do what i can for my kids while im alive and can do stuff

Id agee with this, but worst case help her out, so what if it costs you a bit of money, tis just a bit less Rachel will get to waste when you put your toes up!
