Need a 3.5t dropside truck

The 2.3 were known for rocker cover leaks as well. It’s a nuisance to to the gasket. On the bright side I have the gasket if needed.

just check the turrets that mount chassis to cab for rot as that’s where they go. Easy to see on a flatbed. The well of the b pillar needs a good poke also.

Iveco Daily are good, but a bit on the 'agricultural' side. I've had two and aside from maintenance the only issue I had was with rear brake calipers which are/were a **** poor design and seized due to corrosion. I now have a Mitsubishi Canter Fuso 3.5 tonne dropside (fitted with a hiab) and it's way better in every respect than the Ivecos IMHO.

There are plenty around and for the money you're looking at picking one up to last six years or more won't be an issue.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that! Its the handbrake that's the stupid design. I've rebuilt both sides on my camper twice. You can get the bits cheap enough but if its a work truck you need to be driving it, not rebuilding it! Along the milk float vein, are there any electric vehicles that tick the box? No road tax etc. There is a grant for 9k towards one I think, guy I know has just got the Nissan van version. May work for you.

I have to say I can't really fault the Canter (09 BTW) on anything, it's surprisingly good on fuel too. I don't do loads of miles in the Fuso as I use the van daily, but they're very good for the money IMHO. I think I'm right in saying you can get a Canter with aluminium dropside brand new for £23k.

Friend of mine with a recovery business is shopping for a 3.5 ton beaver tail , to keep weight down , granted its not a tipper , but its the Iveco thats coming out on top , and hes a Merc man through and through so that speaks well for Iveco.

I looked at getting one a few years back but couldnt find one at the time .

although now sorned my 3.5 chassis cab iveco daily , 3 litre,has 525k on it , original engine still sounds llike a watch , but had to replace rear axle .

The guy who has the grafter I said about really researches stuff before he spends his money so if he bought a new one I'd get that as he will have looked right into it. I know it was only train weight that swayed him towards that over the canter. He's an arb and its had a big chip box and toolbox etc put on it. Still returns pretty good mpg even when its full he says.

I have driven but never owned cabstars in the past but never really taken to them. Arb guys call the them the crapstar as far as I recall
