Even the old hands mess up from time to time.

next time you sit on an aircraft with your rum and coke, look out the window on to the wing and see all the mis-aligned rivets and machine screws.

Yes of course, great tool for someone whos countersinking hundreds of holes. Certainly not the case where i work, 5-10 holes every few hours at most, your eye shouldnt be off the ball doing very few.
Quality and consistency is key.

Of course it is. They have a spec to conform to that someone is putting their stamp on.

Is everyone on here just here for an argument? Im not saying these tools arent serving their purpose, they are a good bit of kit, all im saying is they were introduced into our workplace after unskilled workers made a few mistakes on fully built alluminium assembly's, all im saying is, its not hard to countersink a couple holes without using a £150-200 tool.
And yes grim, i was in production, then quality inspector then mechanical engineer.

Directed at me @Afoster61520? I'm not arguing at all. It's not hard to properly countersink a few holes, even I can do it and I'm certainly no sheety, it is easy to mess it up though!

All I was meaning is that production uses available tooling to both ensure consistency and minimise scrapped parts, it's a business after all.

From your posts I wrongly assumed you were perhaps hanger maintenance or similar doing repairs as opposed to production, but I've no idea of timeline either, and I'm quite sure your experience and skill far exceeds mine.

Not just directly at you, nearly every post on here invloves an argument. But im glad we have that sorted no one needs enemies nowadays.

Yea you are 100% accurate on the use of these tools, they are a gift for people countersinking 100s of holes with great consistency every time.

Im confident you would most likely have alot more experience than myself as im only 24. Been in aerospace industry from i was 18 though.
