I found this in a box of bits that came with a router table I bought. Do any of the wood bothers recognise what it's for? I feel I should know. The black cutter is spring loaded and it seems like it fits in a corner to cut something. I'm sure The ?rain's Trust will have the answer.

I’ve no idea if I’m right but I reckon you put it in the corner where the router can’t get then hit the black thing to square it off

Exactly! Rout out a pocket for a hinge or door lock, for example, and square off the corners with your gadget.
Makes a nice neat job of it and very fast too.

Ah, of course. The chap I bought it from said he'd made his own kitchen. I paid £40 for the router and table and there must have been more than that in router bits and there was a pillar drill vice too. Bonus. Thanks for the info. I knew someone would know.

Corner chisel, mostly used after routing out hinge recesses to fit square corner hinge butts on both a door and door jamb.
