I have been given an old toolbox and this was in it,no idea, thought I'd ask you lot..

Is the scalloped face magnetic ?

If so could be an upholster’s hammer

The slot is used to hold sole tacks.

It's not scalloped, it's a slot straight through, like a tuning fork but widening nearest the middle.
Can't check till tomorrow if it's magnetic..

Looks like your right, just found very similar on Google.. Nice one.

Though it might have been a carbody /sheet metal tool, the fork used for bending small angles in thin sheet...
Think its my new welding hammer.

It's an upholsterer's tacking hammer. I have one from when I was a registered upholsterer MANY years ago. You put a bunch of tacks between your lips head outwards, then stretching the fabric with one hand pick a tack from your lips with the magnetic end and start it in the chair (or whatever) frame. Then spinning the hammer so the non magnetic end is pointing at the tack knock it in. Very time saving when you get the hang of it

Cleaned it up a bit, it's slightly magnetic but you couldn't use it as it was meant to be used.
Also got these old screwdrivers, their great.. feel really nice in the hand.

Dunno about the hammer but the screwdrivers are scale tang varieties,

Also found this at the bottom of the toolbox, guessing it's some kind of protractor?Mate that gave me the toolbox was a mechanic and in the engine room on subs,so this probably helped to keep it level
