O2 is about 8 times as effective as CO2 for adding heat to the weld pool. The 2% would probably be a lower CO2 percentage.

How about taking your bottle to the shop and test it on their machines?

the 2% O2 is there to make the metal flow better apparently. its in coogar 5 5% CO2 2% O2 and rest is Ar. I guess that's where they got the name from

Happy ending. Finally sorted this out by changing gas supplier and manufacturer. My original supplier denied their gas was at fault, but obviously it is, as now that I have changed everything works perfectly again. On top of that my new contract is 75% less than my previous one, gas bottles are half the price and customer service is way superior.

I would have thought dodgy gas would have been quite a rare occurence, but clearly it can and does happen.

obvioulsy there was a muppet in the bottel filling plant who ******d up a whole batch.

i've never had a bad bottel of gas i have heard of it happening with co2 n2 mixes tho and if one bottel is duff the whole lot will be
