My plasma cutting woes

Right i'm kind of new to this plasma cutting lark, i'm using the plasma function on a cheap 25 in 1 machine, i couldn't see what was happening at the time so only when watching it back side on...it didn't feel like it was touching the steel and i was just watching the cut line.,lots to learn..should be on my cnc soon but i,ll be going pilot arc for that.

I only watch half the video, seems to be cutting fine when your speed is about right, when you move faster the cut cant keep up and it throws all the molten metal back up at you, go slowly to start, get a feel for the cut, then increase speed once you see how the plasma is preforming, getting a feel for when you are nearing max cut rate.

Yes, your tip is hanging up on the workpiece resulting in jumping, and then got hung up enough to snap the torch.

Thanks for the replies lads, ye I realise it was a hasty start and need to get my speeds and settings nailed down ,I was curious though over why the ceramic shot to pieces like, that particularly the second time when it had a new one fitted as well as the internal parts and failed the moment i hit the trigger.

the main one im going to say is when that compressor kicks in stop your plasma and waituntil that compressor catches up as youve run out of air for the plasma

it does cause the firing into the gun hence the reason you lost your pot

it also looks like you copper cap is loose in the pot whilst mine apears more solid

your spin around is about right and it looks like your right with holding the torch to the metal but that copper cap looks really loose

as goes for your pots they can have a hairline crack in them they either go or they dont

Appreciated,Yeah i noticed the copper cap but only after watching it back. i'm gonna take a look at some pilot arc machines.

one other thing ive just noticed your not level with the material your cutting as you apear to be leaning back with the torch head

this also shows with the spray of metal at you at certain points of the video

as above, slower and bit of a gap between the workpiece and the torch tip, you'll be spot on :-)

Those clip on Training wheels should work well for the OP.

That was part of my bother there then i assumed the tip had to be in constant contact ta very much all.
