I’ve never really seen hard turning just had a quick look on the tube because I was wondering what the swarf was like what with the material being so hard.

Blimey! You wouldn’t want to be doing that in your pants!

I have machined ball race bearings using CBN (Cubic Boron Nitride) inserts on one of my lathes. The swarf comes orange/yellow but the machined finish was very good.

This was the first tentative cut, like a lot of insert tooling bigger cuts give an even better finish

Does it have a a stop or index to keep the lower anvil in the locked position?
Im curious about your design and I'm contemplating making one for mine but it needs to be compact. I do a lot of repairs on parts with tight radius.

Another question. Out of curiosity how does yours stop the lower anvil riser from rotating?
I assume its has a keyway at the back which isn't visible?
On mine I milled a slot and it has an adjuster bolts with a bronze shoe that sits in the slot.
