    He gave the weight in pounds at over 15000lb so I rough converted to proper tons;)

  2. Wouldn't it be easy enough to out bellows or sliding way covers on to protect from grinding dust?
    Adding a grinding feature would make it far more versatile. Probably get more work for it too with not too many big machines like this about.

    What horse power is the motor? My guess is about 7.5 to 10hp bracket given the huge size of old motors.

    The grinding dust would get in as the table has open oil recirculation system which would also cause terrible trouble with coolant.
    It has been done, I’ve got old books with converted planers and waldrich coburg made grinding heads for their planers but the machines architecture is better set up for it. I’ve got a swift planer that could convert nicely.
    I’d say there was more big grinders about than planers
