My Mk1 Fiesta with a Vtec Engine

Over the last few years I have been building a Mk1 Ford Fiesta and putting a B16A Honda Vtec engine in it.

my welding is getting better but I still struggle when upside down

theres been a couple of 106`s using this engine now and i can see why..

great power out of the box and with the box being on the right hand side it helps weight distribution and allows room for a proper bias pedal box..

should fly in a nice light mk1 fez...

You want some nice (well scruffy) Mk1 1300 Supersport wheels to finish it off. Are you cut'n'shutting the driveshafts or getting some specials made ? When I had my Alfa I had to do that much welding just to keep the original engine in Nice job and well worth the effort, how much rewiring does it need ?

its an arched shell so the supersport wheels would be lost in the arches i have some 7x 13 capri wheels but they dont fit over my brakes. Im thinking of having some compomotive wheels in peugeot offset for it.

wiring wise im going to completely re-wire the car as i dont trust 27 year old wiring

shafts i want to have made but I made one up by welding the honda and ford shafts together

Some ideas for driveshaft suppliers. Get some spigot rings for the wheel centres as they are different size to Fords.

That's pretty damn neat! I take it your using a proper size bottle and CO2/Argon mix? I've never managed to weld thicker metal neatly as I've got the hobby size bottles and don't think the regulator on those allows enough flow.

I had that engine in a mini, with qed 50mm throttle bodies and a DTA competition engine management system.
Went like a rocket.
Caused stress fractures in the floor where the engine/gearbox stabiliser drag link connects, you might want to consider backing this up with some 3mm plate, depending on how you installed it.

cheers for that, I have not done those bits yet but was going to use land rover engine mounts and make up the mounting for them. Two at the front and one or two at the rear.

Yes I have a bottle of Argoshield light and a regulator, welder was a Clarke 100E

Landy mounts are usefull, the box and the engine mounts are the same.
Discovery mounts are similarish but square and take a lot more wack.
That car will be fun.
