Bright Spark... I notice you state your location as "The meetings of the two waters, berkshire" Where's that then? I lived in a marina for 11 years where the Thames meets the Kennet. (still have a boat there)
You got it I'm a Old member of the canoe club across from there and live just down the road in Woodley .I dont canoe from the center as I now keep my opens at home I also enjoy building opens like the one you are about to undertake the only thing is as soon as I build one they get snapped up like hot cakes and i'm left with out a boat if you get a mo you could have a look at this and maybe help this chap out http://www.canalworld.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=10364&view=getnewpost
I was dragged up on this part of the river as a Kid as my oldman used to Row up and down this bit of River known as the dreadnought
but I was always the canoeist messing around with old oil drums at the age of six to paddle much to the disgusted looks of the rowers from the old boat house that was burnt down, I was very shocked at this when I returned from working overseas for 15 years to see this part of my life not being there anymore we also scattered my late fathers remains on this part of the River when he past on and I also helped make the floating pontoons that are now moored outside the center and across the water on the other side of the bank and still enjoy a good paddle my youngest Aaliyah was on this water before she was even born inside Mummy as we where out and about all the time enjoying the wildlife. Aaliyah is almost 4 now and paddles upfront in the canoe now.
Sorry got a little carried away there with the post and my life and times on the dreadnought
