My grandads handy work

So recently my grandad turned 90 to celebrate his brilliant life and everything he’s achieved I thought I’d share some of his handy work with you. He has had a lot more but Pictures were hard to come by in his early stages

Bear with me as I’m uncertain with some of the makes and models but will try my best to enlighten you with as much knowledge of the history of the cars.

Hope you enjoy as much as I do

I will keep the thread going through the comments as I can work them out easier

So first up we have the turner sports . Which I think is an alvis shell
Anyways this car is a one off built by jack turner for a dr. My old pops then restored this beauty for it now to sit in the red room at Haynes museum.

A couple of jaguar ss1 and a sneaky pic of my grandma too again all restored back to former glory by the man himself

Think I may have got that wrong the last one is not an ss1-

Now some ones which I have no idea what they are. There’s a few jags thrown in there and one of my grandmas Vauxhall’s I think. The blue jag either xj or xk I’ve forgotten which one was a birthday present from his mum and dad for his 21st... lucky sod. He ended up selling it just over 10 years ago

To finish this off here is a picture of him stood by the same make and model his mum and dad got married in. With him being 90 he finds it hard to remember things as-well as he used to. However, this memory of their special day he will hold onto forever. Just goes to show how an object can rekindle a spark in your brain and help you remember things from many moons ago. Bless him.
Every time he tells me a story no matter how many times I’ve heard it I listen anyways I’ve got a lot of time for this man. Some kids don’t appreciate a good story.

Back in the 1980s the man who lived almost opposite me used to pop across once a year and ask for a hand to roll his Cortina Mk1 up like that. He used old tyres to roll it onto, fit a wooden prop, then clean the underside and slap a coat of black bitumastic paint on.

If he got the pale blue Jag circa 1950 it will be an XK120, also I don't think the 140s and 150s had the spats, but the shape was so similar I can't tell between them.

Found another one. This one is an alvis
Tb14 roadster from around 1950s I believe. They defiantly don’t build modern cars like they use to.
The interior pic is from a jag ss100 maybe

That would originally been an Inverness-shire issued registration.

Interestingly, it's now on a 2006 Ferrari F430.

He sold a lot of his cars a while back so maybe someone sold it on

Absolutely brilliant, how wonderful it must be to have such a man for a grandfather.
Must make you very proud, all my grandparents were born in the 1860's and were long dead well before I was born and sad to say I don't think I'll leave any such memories for my own grandchildren.
I hope he'll live long enough to see his century, he certainly deserves to.

I'll look out for the one at Haynes next time I'm there. My son loves going there so much we ended up getting an annual pass for his birthday.
Luckily it's only 15 mins away.
I'm probably sat 500yds or so away from it now, at work.

Sorry to hear that mate. He’s not my biological grandad. Both died of cancer related deaths long before I was around. However, in my eyes blood isn’t everything. The mans taught me a lot and that means something. He’s a proper soldier had plenty of knocks and he keeps fighting. Probably out live me that one
