my mate lives in a flat and wanted to spray his bike but the neighbour kept complaining so he made a fold up plywood booth and rented a generator and sprayed it at the side of the road next to a farmers field, popped the tank and seat unit and belly fairing in a lined box and drove very very slowly home to dry them overnight!

i have managed to get the rear end apart i was going to take the bolts out but my teng socket sheered off!
thats a teng tool blummin teng!!

no matter what sockets you will break more on them driveshaft to diff spline drive bolts
they are f-------g tight

does anyone know if i have to take them out?

do you see a lip like an inner race ?

its the prominent lip does that need to come out aswell?

think you need to leave them as the bush presses into them they used to be a right pain to fit on the car but it's years since i did any

super cheers for that i'll leave that in , i thought it was part of the bush.

im going to poly bush the rear end anyway so its going to be a little easier i hope to put together i hope....

you need to price the poly bushes first not cheap that bush on ebay £18 poly maybe £60 or more

already done that as the sierra has pritty much the same rear end

the only difference is the anti roll bar bushes are a different size 16mm 17mm 18mm I do believe.

I cant warrant spending hugh amounts buying super flex or the other one. i did a search on flo-flex on a sierra forum and the sierra boys use them and find no problems with them, and a added bonus purchasing from flo is over 100 quid cheaper.

all ill need to do is measure the anti roll bar bush and purchase the whole kit from flo 88 quid for the lot woop!

I have to wait for it to dry to turn it over to do the other side i have done a fair amount on one side , but its nice and thick on purpose due to the location this beast is going too

it would seem i have come up with abit of a problem regarding the diff hanger ,

1 there not made anymore according to anywhere i have looked

2 i cant get a poly bushes one as the sierra one wont due to the mounting points being closer together.

so....

I'm gonna make my own

here is my first drawings i used the edd china trick by rubbing the outline on paper seemed to of worked quite well , then i drew lines in between for the box section

this is the final measurements , i have measured over and over and it looks pretty bang on..

i'll have to make my own poly bush aswell thats gonna be fun

would 2mm thick steel be enough ? or should i use 3mm thick ?

can you not make a diff hanger using the sierra bushes to fit the grannie one is it made of box or plate plate 3mm sounds better than 2mm we dont want your diff dragging on the ground do we now

just a quick one, buy the bush first then make the hanger to suit, you could always get one water jetted from your own design

i have another problem , my fuel lines what look like barnacles growing on them they will need to be replaced , i have been looking at PTFE braided fuel line to replace the current cooper ones , got any idea if that will with stand the ethanol that is being mixed with petrol these days i cant seem to track down a data sheet for PTFE...

I cant remember the full spec of the engine but its a rare one from the states(animal jim) dating back a few years around 1700hp but was featured in Fast Ford a while back running 2000+BHP

Update

I'v painted the rear anti roll bar

brought round the rear trailing arms and diff and everything and walked it round i didn't realise how bloody heavy it would be, i had to do this because i couldn't be bothered to keep going backwards and forwards from the garage.

I'v attempted to remove the hub nuts and there not moving as usual , i'll get a blow touch on to the hub and hope i can get it off

you need a wheel barrow makes life a lot more easy
or a sack barrow

i use one of these with a piece of ply bolted to it to get my tools from the shed to the front of the house no car access to back garden

i should really buy one next time if really wonna do somthing this big and heavy.

i have managed to get one of the hub nuts off it was abit stuck on , but the other side is proving a little more stubborn GRR!

my impact wrench has run out of power and is refusing to charge up now so ill have to wait till tomorrow to do anything constructive with the stubborn side.... if not ill have to cut it off

also i have managed to undo quite afew of the torx bolts holding the lobro joints in place , some of the torx head have rounded off as ususal but nothing i cant weld a bolt too and undo

i tried all ways possible and it wouldn't come off but i did purchase some more from ebay so i have another set now thank god and a spare for the other side which wasn't damaged.


O p.s appolize for not updating much i'v been completing my Ark course , i have finished 2 out of 5 tests pieces im on my 45" T piece its abit tricky as it doesn't stay uniform and the slag refuses to lift from the finished weld
