My first magazine cover

Last year I was at my friends cider farm, so many stories start in his cellar.
I got talking to a lady who 'works for a magazine' and said she liked my work after seeing a picture on the cellar wall.
A while later she contacted me asking if she could have a picture to use in her magazine. Of course says I.
Being a cultural heathen I have never heard of 'The London Magazine'.
Well I got the front cover.

Turns out it is the worlds oldest cultural magazine.
Bowled over is the expression, I was expecting a semi home published thing.

Is that Corten steel you are using ? What sort of gauge is it ?

Hot rolled 1.6mm mild steel sheet rusted with ammonium chloride. the photo was taken about a week or two after rusting it.
I varnished it on top of that about a year and half back for a shinier finish.

Photo taken about a week ago. A durable finish and easy to touch up if it gets scratched.

That's what I was going to ask

Also how do you cut those shapes out. Is it by hand, and if so what tool do you use ?

It is about 2.5m tall, so perhaps not an impulse buy to a customer.
The shapes were cut out with a pair of Bosch GSC1.6 power shears.

I made it when I was skint and almost out of materials, nI had a few bits of 8mm bar left and a box of small offcuts of 1.6mm sheet.
Kept me busy for a while
