Hi everyone,
I received a Clarke 151TE at Christmas and had the chance to put itand myself to the test this week.
I wanted to make a jig to hold a v6 cylinder head so I can drill a new bolt pattern in the drill press at home.
This involved cutting and prepping the metal and welding it all together. Please let me know what you think!
Cutting the metal was tricky initially but I got better.
I ground down the ends of most of the pieces but forgot a couple - sloppy.
I seemed to be getting the hang of it.
I drilled a hole and the cutting fluid flowed and messed up the weld.
The finished item - sort of - I need to rethink it because the bolt pattern on the heads is not what I was expecting. I also want to make it adjustable so I can make sure the surface is level when drilling. That will come later.
Overall I am happy with the results but I still have a lot to learn and need to practice more. Any advice on the photos above and also what I should look out for in order to assess the quality of welds would be very helpful.
I'll keep searching as well!
This is just a very cool picture!
