I've had my first proper attempt with my new welder today. It's a 151TE, thanks to everone off here who recommended it, well impressed!!
I did some welding on some steel somewhere between 0.8 and 1mm just running some welds down the middle of it layed some welds that I thought was pretty good for my first goes.
My question is about the wire feed speed and the frying sound i've read you should get when its right. I thought the dial on the machine was in meters p/min so I set it to 1.9 as per the mig settings calculator on the website but it seemed way to slow.
Went up to 5 and was okay. Went down to 3.5 and was also okay, i moved the torch slower and found it a bit easier on 3.5.
Anyway at setting 5 its makes a violent but consistent bbbbzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz sound like its violently frying
at 3.5 it makes a quiter sssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhh sound like i'm gently frying an egg
Probably the crappest question ever but which of my frying sounds was the best?
If i went any slower I could see like a ball forming on the end of the wire before the weld pool.
