You guys liked the Sanrex TAs down there from what I gather.
They are quite advanced units.

That was the pipe welding weirdos , I borrowed one of their machines one day to do a quick tack and I thought they were going to lynch me the only machines I had were the messer gresheims and the murex trans tigs, and briefly the esab. Interestingly we used the esab more for stick than owt else

Just had another hour, trying a few things. It is a bit busy on the controls. I made a few sillies like using stainless rod on Ally! I also put it on DC one time while on ally. I tried about 90A on my 3mm test scrap, I have it on a bit of 20mm plate so it can take heat if sitting flat. got the ramp up and down better,
I was using 2.4mm filler. what length rod do you get?
Gets real noisy when I upped the freq from about 80Hz right up to 250Hz, need ear plugs.
I also did first welds without turning the mask on and saw stars for a while..

Where Im learning Im standind with bent legs to get to the work. Also I have no arm rests, its all free floating so a little erratic to say least.
Need a mega garage clean out and a chair..

Have you a pedal or are you just on the button? I would be using about 120a on 3mm

The scrap in the picture was around 110 or 120A tonites fiddle was 90A
The cleaning was better tonite, I maybe up the gas to 7 rather than 6lpm.
I will do a bit regularly I enjoy the fight. I need longer filler, a sit down, my glasses on,
is there a decent consumables place in either cambs or steveage rather than missing post deliveries all time...

There is loads of them but the difficulty is if it’s a genuine Fronius torch. Completely different parts and often not stocked in a lot of places. You’ll pay through the nose for them too. Nice consumables mind and the cups have a nice shape to them for maximising gas direction. If you are using a genuine Fronius torch you’ll be stuck with there own consumables and probably have to order them in. A lens, collet, cup and cap would probably set you in the region of £25.
Edit by consumables are you referring to torch spares or filler rods.

Im good for cups (no 6) are about 2quid each.

Boc were often pricey. Letchworth is always closed.
Guy in wisbech seems ok. But not opes sat.

It will be bulky mate. It’s a gas cooled 220 amp beast.
Wait till you need some lenses, collets and caps etc. Expensive things. If you want to get full benefits out of your welding on alu at those gages I’d be looking at a water cooled project. But then you’ve got issues of making a torch fit etc. It can be done with a dinse conversion. I think you’ve bought one of the finest machines money can possibly buy. Imo it tears strips off most of its rivals with its behaviour on ac when set up correctly. However they really have got you by the short and curlys with them. The pedals (Tr2200fm) are a remortgage and you ain’t copying them easily because they are can bus.
The torches as you know are a fortune as are the spares and as are the adapters to fit your own.
The genuine cooler is over £1100 now.
They do this to encourage a package sale.
Buying a magicwave used needs to either be complete with everything or really cheap imo because you’ll spend over a grand getting it pedalled, water cooled(non genuine cooler) and a decent torch to fit. You’ll be lucky to find that pedal 2nd hand.

Found a bit of Flat Bar 2nite and dialled it in a bit more, sharpened the tungsten more than other attemps, and put me glasses on.

first lap joint - had trouble getting the puddle to flow into the root, it was all a bit one side or the other. The lower one would not melt as the metal table was sucking heat, the upper peice melted super quick (about 90A used) Finding it all a bit difficult. Need a good supply of scrap.

Why don’t you book yourself in to come and see me. It will make life so much easier for you rather than struggling on. Your in such a good position because your only up the road.

Not just now. Its just an empty refrigerant bottle. Ive cut one end off. but thats it. Need more time to muck about, got a lot on.

Tried a few fillets, tough to get total root fusion. My best one is here. Still ugly at the start and the end, you can see where I re dressed the end on the bottom.
3mm plate, 2.4 tung, 1.6 filler, ~90A

Had a go on stainless earlier - just running beads - so sensitive to amps setting. Lots of distortion. Its hard. Makes ally look easy.
I only had 1.6mm sheet
It goes through full penetration easy. Tough
