Hi all,
Now feel free to tell me if I'm being silly.
I'm restoring a very early MX5 on a budget, the only bit of body work left to deal with is a grotty wing. I've been 'gifted' a very tidy wing, well almost, the 'coloured' portion is spot on (well, as they go for 25 year old bits) but the bottom of the wing is corroding badly, the exact opposite of my existing wing with is nasty everywhere EXCEPT the bottom portion.
Now I've had the crazy idea that I can make one decent wing out of the two, my idea being to cut neatly in a straight line above the 'black' bit on both wings than butt weld the bottom of the older wing on the bottom of the newer wing. My MIG skills are 'okay' and I'll use the old rusty wing to practice the butt welding on.
This bit is solid on the wing that's fitted at the moment!
Any advice, tips or am I just being silly?
Cheers,
Andy
