must a pub bottle be used upright?

i have a pub bottle to use with my little hobby clarke , it doesnt have a stay to secure a big bottle and i dont have room to make a trolley

im a bit concerned it might get knocked over if i just stand it up near the job , would there be any problems laying it down ?

Yes. It's liquid CO2 you are tapping off the gas, if it's laid down the valve will freeze. Besides it's good practice to stand bottles up, then you don't have to remember which can and can't

I believe you will get liquid co2 into the regulator rather than gas,its why co2 fire extinguishers aren't generally used for shielding gas as they have a diptube and release liquid....I wouldn't try personally ....might wreck the regulator?
