Murex Tradesmig 171

Hello everybody, after reading many posts i want to ask q question myself, i'm looking to buy a new mig welder and after hours of looking i'm nearly decided on the murex tradesmig 171, does anybody have any experience of this welder or know how it perform's and what the build quality is like ?

I have a murex tradesmig 210. Transformer based, day in - day out, bread & butter production welder. Good quality!

Use it, for anything from; car panel work to RSJ fabrications. It's a beast! Will probably see me out.

Hi Jimbo,welcome to the forum,just curious,how is it you've almost made up your mind?.have you tried the murex?my own choice was limited to cost....i've used the larger murex and thought they were well built ,and a good welder ,i hope the smaller units are as good....Gav

the reason i have almost made my mind up is because i've used murex gear before but only on odd occasions and thought it worked well but, wondered what everybody thought to them before i took the plunge and forked out my hard earned money

I am clueless about welding but I have worked in the power engineering industry for a long time and fixing welding sets is now my hobby , for the time being anyway . Purchased two small Murex machines 135AMP mma and a 145amp tig and have to say compared to the other four dud welding sets I bought these are by far the best in terms of component quality and ease of repair , I will not hesitate to buy more duff Murex welders they are great , problem is you dont see many for sale .

I have a murex stick, excellent.
I have used the 171, its a good quality welder, for what I need it lacks a litte power, it'd be great for car stuff, the wirefeed quality is good, a lot of sets now have nasty wirefeeds.

Murex do not sell rubbish, they are pricey but are great value for money.

The Murex Tradesmig 171 looks exactly like my Esab origomig 170,just painted red instead of yellow.
I'm very happy with my Esab,there's a thread about it on here somewhere with photos of its insides etc.
