Murex Tradesmig 160

A question about my Tradesmig 160. It's probably about 40 years old btw.
When I first got it, which was a good while ago, and it's sat around for a while, but I feel sure that the cooling fan ran all the time, as soon as the mig was turned on, now it doesn't, and I'm not sure whether it should be running all the time, or it's on a thermal switch and will come on when the temperature gets up.
Anyone one know?

I am quite sure that "fan on demand" was not a thing back then, so yes, it should be running all the time. Maybe it is just stuck/seized.

I did think I remembered it running constantly. I've checked and it's not seized, and all the wires at the fan are still fitted, but I can't see at the other end.
