Hello all, A newbee here, been lurking for a while debating what to buy and have finally got what I thought was a decent second hand welder but am having problems with it.
It seems to work reasonably well, the wire speed & voltage selector do what they should, and I can make a reasonable looking weld - maybe with poor penetration but passable. It just makes a funny noise and doesnt seem quite right. Difficult to describe but I'll do my best.
It all sounds good at the welder end, but at the torch Its very noisey. Sounds a bit like the wire is going too fast - that popping noise, but VERY fast. almost like a buzzing but a bit more poppy if that makes sence. Its not the speed. If I adjust it from too fast to too slow it carries on. I've used welders before both gas and gasless and this doesn't sound like either of them. Not a nice sizzle thats for sure. Using BOC Argoshield light at 25l/min (is this correct?) and not getting any spatter but a bit of carbon building up arround the weld edges. Brand new roll of wire and very clean 2mm metal. Any Ideas?
Re-reading that it seems a bit vague but the best I can do really. Cant post a picture unfortunately but any info much appreciated.
Or should it behave like that and I'll shut up and get on with it!!!
thanks
Toby.
