The layout, design, case & screen looks very similar to my Unit-t, probably from the same factory! Best of luck with it, I hope it serves you well!

Can I suggest that you invest in a set of silicon leads with interchangeable ends, they're not too expensive & miles better than the pvc leads it comes with! A case is also a good idea, you can make one yourself from wood & line it with yoga mat material.

I have a question about the max/min button that's on many multi meters, how can you tell if this button will actually function correctly?

I.e capture/display both the high and low reading after starting a car engine for example. I know that some expensive Fluke's have this feature, I'm wondering if any budget versions have?

Not exactly budget but they do crop up used on ebay a lot cheaper. It's great for tracing wiring faults & testing components, the connections, including the probe are all std banana plugs so you can add your own adapters. One of the most useful features is the max/min voltage setting, great for testing minimum volts during starting or checking if you alternator is over or under charging.

Not exactly budget but they do crop up used on ebay a lot cheaper. It's great for tracing wiring faults & testing components, the connections, including the probe are all std banana plugs so you can add your own adapters. One of the most useful features is the max/min voltage setting, great for testing minimum volts during starting or checking if you alternator is over or under charging.

I've got one too, just didn't know about the min/max bit must read the manual.

In my younger days the Fluke 77 was all the rage, couldn't afford one though. When I grew up a bit I decided to get myself a Fluke scopemeter, still got it, doesn't work though. Had it for about 3 years, used it about a dozen times, then one day, it no work. Checked the battery, fine, checked the connections to the battery, also fine, just won't switch on. Took it back to Fluke and they told me it's 'stuffed'. I asked what's the reason, answer 'stuffed'. At the time this scopemeter was an eyewatering cost for me, I winged and complained and was handed to a senior Fluke sales guy who offered me a 10% reduction on a new one, again still no answer what was wrong with mine. I kindly thanked him for his generous offer, politely told him where he could place that offer and left. I subsequently bought another scopemeter from another brand, had it in the service truck for when it is required and three years later one time to see if it still works, battery is stuffed (NiMh) and the place I got it from had closed down. The arrogance of the Fluke people was astounding, my dream was to own and I believed it was a sign of achievement to own something of this nature, but in the end nor so. The original lifetime warranty on their upper range products was eroded away, my unit clearly was in almost pristine condition which they acknowledged but basically 'bad luck'. Haven't bought anything Fluke since. My story

Unfortunately that's the way a lot of manufacturers treat customers nowadays, look at car ownership ! You pay your pound of flesh expecting to never break down and when it does it will cost you an arm, leg, kidney + a bollo*** to repair if you're lucky ! However lack of use could also mess things up...

Thanks, I have been looking at a Sealey version of this, their one has a bit of a scope facility on the display too. Not sure how good or useful it would be to me but I don't have any kind of scope right now.
