MULTI-USE anti spatter ????

Have come across this stuff on flea-bay:
item No.: 150037028841
Its made by a company called Action Can (located in St Helens)

The description says “
AS-90 Is an advanced, non-flammable, anti-spatter wire lubricant and corrosion protector. It assists the smooth flow of welding wire to the welding torch”

Has anyone used this for its ‘wire lubricant & corrosion protection properties???

Am I assuming it means you can coat welding wire on the reel to help prevent corrosion?? Seems too good to be true!!

Don’t fancy coating a 5kg reel to see how it ends up?? So, any one used it?? Any comments??

If not, I may get one & use it when there is only a bit left on the reel to see how it goes ??

Never heard of it! You should never spray anti-spatter (or WD40!) on the wire as it can cause slip at the rollers & contaminate the weld. The only way to prevent wire from going rusty is take the stuff off the machine & store it somewhere warm & dry.
I'll throw in a can of 'Clean-Weld' spray for you railhead when you collect your Portamig, best stuff on the market and enviroment friendly being vegetable oil based

I wouldnt like to spray it all over a reel of wire. Cant see it has any advantages. The wire is copper coated for exactly that reason.
If anything i would have thought it would hinder smooth feeding due to slippage on the rollers.

As an antispatter its probably great, both for on the jobs and in shrouds.
I prefer the solvent based ones, they seem to work a little better, especially into corners where you get a lot of spatter.
Not the healthiest of types to use though.

We used to use that, but about 2 cans from every box was faulty and wouldnt spray. You have any trouble with it?

Half time & England 1-0 down (I say England cause as far as I'm concerned any English club in the European cup final is representing England). Do get the odd faulty tin Hitachi but just sling them back at the supplier. Clean-Weld does'nt use a conventional aerosol system, instead using a bag of compressed air & I think it's that that gets disslodged in transit sometimes. Good stuff though don't you think?

Yes, good stuff, we still use the same but re badged in murex cans.

My MIG wire never goes rusty in the machine in the garage, not complaining but how comes? the copper plating?

Yes, thats one of the main reasons it is plated i believe.
If you have a very damp garage it gets damp, but not rusty.
