I came across this today ,its about MRI scans for people who work with steel ...I wonder if any of you have had MRI scans and been asked about stray bits of steel in your eyes ....

I have had several MRI scans and they always ask about, If there is a possibility of any metal in your body including eyes etc, There is some very powerful magnet action going on on those machines.

I have some metal staples in my bonce from a push bike accident 20 years ago. The only problem I have when I'm having an MRI is that they have to strap me down or I tend to point north.

I had one recently on my prostate & although it was the other end of my body, they still asked about my eyes.

Yeah they always ask me about that too. I have had a bit of swarf embedded in my left palm for the last 20 years or so, and they always have a conversation about that too, but it's never caused any problems.

Anyone else find the noise inside the scanner sends them to sleep? 3 times now I've woken myself up with my snoring!

yup, i was told the magnets could cause any metal in my well toned body to move and that could not be ideal

Its standard practice they don't won't to have to fill out the HSE forms.

I was asked the same questions when I had a spinal operation last year...

My arms set off the full body scanners at the airport. When they show you the image my forearms light up yellow. Can only think it’s yhe amount of grindings embedded in them!

I had to have x-rays on my eyes before my first MRI as I had previously had metal fragments in my eyes and it was unclear if they were fully removed, I now know they were

I have had a few MRI, I have a file with my medical records what informs the MRI team about what is left in my what is metal and not fillings.

It is fun.
I fall asleep now in the scanner.

Sent for an X-Ray immediately before going through to the MRI suite.

MRI Scanners are larger now. The first one I was in had my nose nearly touching the top of the tunnel. Very unnerving. And the noise was almost deafening. No sleeping for me. My last one. I had my head strapped down. While they showed me images through those goggles that the youngsters wear to play games. And I had to answer questions all the time. Very wierd.
