wife got a letter today saying her appointment has been pushed out again till the end of Feb, no explanation, now 6months since her first referral.

my 1st one got cancelled 1 hour before I was due to get it got second appointment 2 weeks later . got arthritis in spine and damage to pelvis. dunno wots going to happen might end up like ironside wheelchair electrician instead of a cop yer have to laugh or you would cry

I had one at the London Imaging Centre on Wimpole Street just next to Harley Street for £250. It could have been £200. The images were excellent.

Had 1 private (around £400in the South) this found a problem in my neck then 3 in Southmead NHS, the first one in 3 days after the private one, they started to do one every 6 months keep an eye on the tumour, the consultant & I decided an opp was not a good idea so after the 3rd one called a halt to them.
Just had a hernia opp on the NHS could not fault the choose & book or the Shepton Mallet facility, nice people, very efficient, & friendly.
Again from seeing Doctor to having opp 2 weeks, these are the only times in the last 74 years I have used the facilities I have helped pay for.
I have worked all my life & paid tax etc I do not feel I have taken advantage

Here is another point to check, my wife's GP cancelled her first NHS appointment without telling her after we had decided to get the first MRI privately, I was furious with her, she gave a pathetic excuse. That then delayed the NHS appointment, so don't let your GP do the same with you.

All these people tell us they are over worked but there seems to be little joined up thinking other than some outposts of excellence.
EVERYONE I have mentioned Shepton too has said how good their treatment was, one who had an overnight stay saying the food was better than home wont mention his name for obvious reason

Think mine was around £200 a couple of years ago. My osteopath referred me. I think I was seen within two weeks

This is a slightly different scenario
My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer 4 years ago
After various scans biopsy's and x rays we had a meeting with the consultant
He was not happy with a mark on her spine and wanted another scan to be sure
(if breast cancer moves in to the spine you are in real trouble)
We had a 6 day wait for a slot
I rang the appointment department explaining the situation was unbearable
I asked them if i could take her to another unit in the UK
I was prepared to pay to have the scan done
They rang me back within 45 minutes
2 hours later she was being scanned
Results next day were all clear the mark on her spine was an old injury
Just typing this has me in tears
Thankfully things worked out ok

There are two lists, 'normal' waiting one and a 'stand-by' one for 'late cancellations' - at least there is for cataract ops. I got onto the late job [folk cancel for other illness etc]. Phone call within iirc a couple of weeks on the Wed afternoon, procedure done on the Friday after lunch.

Worth checking with the hospital [sometimes GPs don't even realise it's available ], ask them if Mrs RD can get on both if they have one for the MRI Dept.

TechnicAl, I had terrible shoulder trouble (Rotator cuff) Couldn't even hold my out to the side, Had lots of physio , no good at all. had injections into the shoulder on two occasions by the physio and both lasted a couple of months only, Finally saw a specialist,An ex military Dr who still insisted on being called colonel St-----. I explained that I had two previous injections that didn't last very long, Not by me you haven't was his slightly arrogant reply, Anyway, give the man his due, He injected me about a year ago and its still fine, He definitely hit the right spot,
