Funny what makes folks travel, what bought you over this way?Alternative is to go and see if life is what you want; travel lite and don't commit loads of your savings upfront. Then if it's what you want and life is good then consider bringing stuff over. I came the other way with one bag and after two years still only had one bag. I then decided I was staying and have a bit more now.
Travelled and moved about loads in Oz so was always up to see somewhere new. Best mates came over when I was at Uni so couldn’t go and something I wanted to experience. I always wanted to see and travel Europe and the first two years that’s what I did. I’ve always said you need to make wherever you are work for you and I learnt that from working in remote mining towns really early on, I had a great time working in a lot of remote places with not much there but normally these places are full of great folk and great places to work. Aberdeen works for me. I couldn’t have what I have here if I lived in Sydney as Sydney offers a totally different life. Here we have a lovely granite house in the city centre, I have a fantastic workshop in the city centre and we have a fantastic holiday cottage right on the North Sea 1hr from Aberdeen. You’d need to be super rich if you lived in Sydney to have what we have here and lifestyle.Funny what makes folks travel, what bought you over this way?
So I guess you've been thinking since 74 - "if only" and "what if...."The only downside is the geological instability, as far as I can see. I planned to take my Ford Escort, back in ‘74. Almost all sorted but wife-to-be didn’t want to leave her family, so I had to find another job just before we married.
