do what I do get some pliers on it and pull like hellits surprising what u can sometimes get on them

well when it happens on a a 10mm cable coming out of the roof or a ceiling and its burnt back u will swing on it to get some more through otherwise its a 2 hour job floorboards up and extending cables for a piddly half hour job do it regular . how many times do u have to extend cat 5

When you are told that you can have half a data cab at one end of the room on first fix then you turn up a month later and some git has populated that rack you can find you are a little short. And no joining it is not an option when you are running HD or 4K video over cat 6.

We used to have a gang of Navvy's to pull big cables like that in, they'd be spaced out along the catwalk in the roof and heave it through.

True but if a run is no longer possible due to the final fit out / mf ceilings finished / decorated it will cost no mater how heavy the cable is, sometimes you have to cause a bit of damage it but you try very hard not to.

Hi, In the mid 80s after the London library was built a friend got a job overseeing the rewiring project of all the data cabling because instead of laying the cables on the trays they pulled them and shaved a lot of the insulation off.
He said it would probably see him through to retirement.

I towed my mates 5 series BMW home with 3 lengths of CAT5 as we couldn't find a tow rope.

A friend, many, many years ago found not enough free play in the cable, once he'd lifted the floorboards, to allow fitment of a junction box so he could fit a spurred socket. He simply pulled on the wire until enough slack ! I was cringing but he said it was OK as that is what he'd done all over the house
It was the old rubber wiring and luckily he sold shortly after to new owners who had the place rewired with a modern ring main.That's pretty and shiny!

I know if I suggested that to some I know they'd end up using a 915m tow rope
Shame you didn't have any CAT6 cable to hand, you'ld have got home faster
