get one with a hiab will be better to crane it on and offAny ideas as to how I can move my colchester master lathe from Bristol to Cheltenham. It weighs about 700kg.
Current best plan looks like hiring a 7.5 tonner with a tail lift.

meaning all I'll have to do is lift it and move it across a few feet.

Just looked at the link that seriesonewelder provided and I'll have to eat my words!Think you'll struggle to get an engine crane to reach sufficiently to lift it and get it onto a trailer.
If you've got more time than money then hiring a trailer and using good ol' egyptian technology will get you the same result for a fair bit cheaper?
I've been quoted about 100quid on a pallet. Problem with a pallet is I have no idea where to get an oversized pallet from (lathe is 838mm x 1969mm) or how to attach the lathe to the pallet.
Stupid question time.... where can I buy pallets in Cheltenham or Bristol?
interesting tale here about lathe moving
