Question to anyone up on their building regs, I'm in the final stages of getting permission for my new workshop, up to building warrant level.
Architect has just sent revised plans with movement joints in both inner and outer leafs in a few places.
As far as I'm aware you need joints every 6m in block work walls, the gable ends are 6.5m, and now have a dirty great joint running from base to apex and split the wall in half. I'm kind of going with he knows best, but is it really necessary? Or are building regs so strict it's not worth questioning?
Movement joints just look like a massive weakness.
