Picture makes me laugh. My cousin and I when in our teens took devilish delight in a hardware store setting all the mouse traps which were sitting on a display. Heaven help the first person who dared touch one. Perhaps that's why they all come with a staple in place preventing them being set before it's removed now?I’ve found these types of trap to be very effective, they stand on the platform which is raised and it gets set off before they’ve even tried to take the bait.
As above make sure they can’t get to and food, my biscuits etc are in upper wall hung cupboards.
And try to find out where they’re getting in, under floor/solum vents if damaged can be an entry point.

Have you that trap wired up to the mains as well?Here’s my problem in the kitchen,I think they climb in the void around the pipes,so I packed wire wool around the gaps.View attachment 341726
