Motorun Phase Converter help

Does anyone have any instructions or knowledge about Motorun phase converters?
This is mine, I've had it for many years. Its been set up as a rotary with the 5.5HP motor attached to it since I got it.

Anyway, I'd like to look at setting it up as a bigger rotary by getting a bigger motor.

My question at the minute is - does anyone now what the switches are for, and for the ones to do with HP how should they be set.
Its particularly the High/Low and Timing switches I dont know the purpose of.

I also dont know how the lower HP switches should be set when using a bigger motor, if that makes sense.
The marking on it were there when I got it.

Any help appreciated.

(I think!) The low/high switch selects which of the 2 hp switches is active.
Then yoy set either one of those according to use

Hmm, I hoped it wasnt for that.
If it is, its suggesting the top switch, which doesnt cover the size of slave motor it has.

I'm guessing that "Timing" is for a long or short boost from the start capacitors. Should be easy to check, but I havent.

It might not be!
I thought it was the same as mine but mine is actually a transwave. Same paint though!

I don't know if the switches/settings are vital? I think they might be to balance the load out correctly. Ie it will still run anyway.

The guy I got mine from just had a socket on the outlet and plugged whatever he wanted to use into it. All the switches were just set on maximum!

Though your idler motor is 5.5hp, it wont use full load as its in effect just running unloaded, using inductance to smooth out the manufactured phase.

Motorrun's were always the poor relation to the Transwave. The Transwave monitors the 'generated phase' and switches out the start capacitors when the motor is up to speed and providing the third phase using a voltage sensitive relay. When I was choosng a phase converter decades ago I eliminated the Motorrun from the choice as their offering at the time had manual switching out of the start capacitors . I believe both let you choose how big the start capacitor bank is, it's just how it is switched out as the motor starts up.

With this one the start capacitors certainly seem to automatically switch although I think just based on time, not the motor being up to speed.
Occassionally the motor doesnt get up to speed and sits there grumbling for a second after the caps switch off, then the overload breaker its pugged into trips.
