Motorcycle boot repairs

I was surprised this morning by the lack of grip from my Sidi Vertebra boots and found that the sole is smooth and broken (maybe contributing to my recent mishap?). I started looking around at new boots, did an "Arkwright" ** and looked for repair services, not expecting to find any.

However I made contact with this guy who does it for £95 inc return carriage, which is far better than having to scrap otherwise good boots...

Currently in Scotland to find my Meindl boots are disintegrating at the midsole. £105 to repair but still cheaper than new boots to make matters worse I have a second pair with the same fault that is effecting so many modern walking boots with PU soles.

Cobbler's Corner in Cheltenham have done some good repairs on eldest daughter's riding boots over the years.

This shop has been suggested to me for climbing shoes with good reviews and I'd suggest motorcycle soles will be pretty similar provided no leather/sewing/zips. Worth trying and they do a postal service, I have never been there.

The thing that attracts me to this chap is that he specifically lists the Sidi Vertebra and my assumption (yes I know) is that the job will be to OEM standard.

There also seems to be an unwritten rule that motorcycle boots shall have the slipperyist, worst rubber available. Do not consider stopping near a wet drain cover, the tyres have no problem.

As such, my A* boots have Metzler Racetec K2 rubber on the soles, as so some of my climbing shoes. Extremely grippy except when it gets too cold.
