Motor cycle sat nav help

Winchboy is not known for his navigation abilities and I have had a few Where am I calls.
So he needs a sat nav for his bike any ideas? Obviously it must be cheap and water proof.

Smartphone app? My cousin who doesn't do technology got a Nokia smartphone given, when she bought a new car about 6 years ago, she didn't know how to work it so gave it to me. I never registered it, just use the sat nav it came with. It isn't great at user friendliness, and takes a while to catch a satellite, but doesn't tell lies about where you are like my brother's "proper" sat nav sometimes does.

You can get waterproof cases for iPhone that fasten on handlebars, get an older model like a 4s for £30-40 and use Waze or Google maps on it.

The Garmin Zumo series aren't bad, though the review goes for the Tom-Tom Rider.

I use my iPhone6 in a waterproof case (£16.00) which is magnetically attached to the top of the dash. The lanyard has a mini carabiner to a fixed point, although it doesn't seem to move regardless of provacation. I have it "Bluetoothed" into my bike comm's system.

Tried he can read one but has no sense of direction and just gets lost or follows the wrong route!

So? All he needs is to ensure it is well charged and use a bluetooth adapter in the helmet. Will do just what he wants and even provide music and radio if he feels inclined.

How I used to navigate was a bit of paper with my directions on it in a bag taped to the handlebars.I still do it the same way but as I drive a car its not in a bag and only placed on the seat.

I have the older version of one of those, takes our car sat nav and have wired a marine 12v socket on for the supply

i have an aftermarket bluetooth system in my helmet and just connect my phone to it so it relays directions. works perfect and ive been all over the country like that. previous to that it was printed off route plan with highlighted turns and junctions in a plastic wallet taped to the tank, just pull a sheet out when youre done

Waze is (mostly) excellent and free. Easily replaces a basic SATNAV.
