I got a brand new 110v 3hp motor to replace the 3 phase item on my Ingersol Rand compressor off eBay.
Unfortunatley courier damaged the top housing that covers the electrical connections. Not really a problem to sort that aspect out but one of the two large capacitors also was damaged and I intend replacing "just to be safe".
I should add the motor was checked over - shaft not bent and works fine when power applied so just cosmetic damage.
I assume one capacitor is for starting and other for running. Do they have to be a matched pair or can you mix different brands ? Are the start and run capacitors the same as I can't see any marking on the damaged one which might indicate which it is used for ?
Thanks.
