welding my old van up for the mot but do i need to weld both sides of my plating job and watt if i cant get to both sides i am using tig

No need to weld both sides but good luck using tig, it won't be as easy as mig.

i got mig but no gas wire had mixed results withe it

Gasless wire is messy. Use proper wire and shielding gas and you'd get on fine.

For this kind of work, really mig only way to go.

If you can't get to the other side of the plate will the MOT tester be able to? Also if you weld it properly with sufficient penetration it'll go through

You would be much better off with mig for the type of job your doing, especially if your are not experienced with tig, main reason is it needs to be very very clean for tig whereas mig is a little more forgiving.

The words old and van translates to mig not tig,
It'll be a far quicker/easier job with the mig.
