Replicating the original join method is the aim.
If cutting into a continuous piece of steel then seam i.e. no gaps over the weld length
If it is an edge joined to another sheet by spot, then spot/stitch it
If it is an edge with an original seam weld, then replacement is seamed.
If you are a wizard steel gluer you won't need a grinder, therefore profile of weld should be irrevelant, as long as similar form to original
