I've replaced rusty brake pipes.
Once the old pipe is off the vehicle, try bending a non rusty part to see what effort is required. Then hold it with a hand either side of the rusty part and see how little effort it takes before it snaps - without even bending.
That should be enough to convince anybody that a failure for a rusty pipe is not something to disregard.
