Should be a nice little turnaround is It non recorded? Tried hard to get my wife to go for a polo, Her being a Peugeot fan having had the 106 206 a few 207,s 208,s and so on.

As I amgiven to telling people who say this to me. My time is only "free" If I don't value it. Stuff I do to entertain myself though, that's a different matter.
My 2010 Polo rotted the sills like that too, mind you between me and my son we got just shy of 250,000 miles out of it
That's the spirit. Personally I cannot see why 250k is unachievable in most modern (well, built in the last 15 years) cars as long as regular oil changes feature in the maintenance schedule.

Well my son did discs and pads to the front and rear shoes, fitting kit and new rear wheel cylinders on Saturday. When grinding off the rear drum lip I hit the outside of the drum with a wire wheel and coated in etch primer followed by wheel silver. It’s improved the appearance no end.
Sundays task was to make a start on the holey sills. Was a crap job, everytime I tried cleaning up the welds it was so thin I had to extend the area, 3 plates later I put another piece in. In the end I just went oversize and went back to better metal.
I’ve bought complete sills and might use one to cut up for the driver side.
This is how bad the sills are on these!

I never bother taking the lip off of VWs , I just use a pointed screwdriver through one of the wheel bolt holes to lift up the spring loaded adjuster wedge to release the brakes. On fitting new shoes etc I use the pointed tool to pull the adjuster down after slackening off the handbrake cable which is often over adjusted

Well, my 2 doors arrived today, complete as fitted to the vehicle, £240 plus £118 delivery.
I must say what a superb set up on the VW’s. Disconnect the loom plug, undo check strap 6mm internal spline bolt, loosen the small external spline bolt in the hinge pin and lift up to remove. That simple. 5 mins work.
Only minor irritation, the plug in the 2014 door is pinned differently to the 2012 so the door loom needed swapping as it was doing all sorts when locking and unlocking. That said, even swapping out the door looms is made easy enough.

All that’s left is to repair the offside sill, pair of wiper blade, nearside drop link and its mot time. Wish they were all that simple.
