for the last 2 years I had an advisory about a slightly noisy wheel bearing, this year it wasnt mentioned, and thats all been done by the same tester.

He's finally realised you are not going to fix it I get one every year about my rusty exhaust, the end of the tailpipe is crumbling but it has no blows. I might cut the end off the pipe and tidy it up as it's due in a fortnight my phone just reminded me.

Probably the result of presbyacusis (age-related deafness, tester can no longer detect the noise).

I cut the end off with the angle grinder, hardly marked the rear bumper at all honest and took it in for MOT. Passed with no advisories

As mentioned a previous advisory does not mean a fail but many garages will fetch up the previous MOT result and perhaps pay a bit more attention to anything highlighted.

I never do,------ aint got time for that malarkey just get on and do it, you find what you find IMO.
disc pads are a difficult one especially rears some times with worn lipped discs it is very difficult to see and to guess 1.5 mm can be a little difficult but better to warn someone than not, imo

insufficient damping (i.e. no oil left) can be advisory.

With a car there isnt a a 'damping' test

no because it is not a method of examination, BUT--------- to me it is just a good indication of how good the suspension is ie bushes links etc.
and its hard to check the front end brake reaction bushes they be a little difficult to check properly even with ATL gear, but that is all the atl gear are good for, imo they bang back and too far too quickly to see many worn joints/ brgs etc but do show worn bushes etc and rear axle links etc.

You can still fail a shocker that is not working
the wording is
A shock absorber which has negligible damping effect.
they stopped the bounce test because some numpty was denting wings by pushing on them

imo a knackered shock is more dangerous than 0.01% high on the emissions...

Yeah but that 0.01 % will kill thousands--------- HUMMMM ------without them knowing, so 'they' say
but a knackered shock will only kill a couple------- if they are unlucky. so not as impotant

Very few cars fail the emissions test
A petrol that fails usually fails by a long way
Most modern diesel won't even give a smoke reading

There was also a concern that a tester could be injured trying to bounce a heavy vehicle with none compliant suspension, I always smiled when the tester I use used to ask his assistant to jump up and down on the bumper of my old LR ;-) at the end he'd say with a straight face .. well.. what do you think?
