it does look like that and that makes sense, but i cant visulise how it works, and i dont f around with stuff that holds the wheels on, so im gonna call a mobile fitter to sort it tomorrow.

old dog was dead right, but it wasnt as simple as just clipping it back together. they had to disassemble the hub using the worlds biggest circlip pliers and a press then assemble the bearing on the bench, then refit. as you can imagine the bill was a bit larger than i was hoping but its back together and no play.
