MOSA TS200 generator failure

This unit came from work - it was written off by a local welding company as uneconomical to repair, so we bought a new one. A colleague took this one home as a freebie, had a quick look at it, decided he didn't know how and dropped it off for me to look at.

First impression is that the welder supply power cables have shorted, I THINK that's what they are. Not sure if this will have damaged the alternator?

Reason I'm asking is because there's nothing in it for me, if it's as simple as repairing a couple of wires then yes I'll do it but I won't be spending a long time on it. If I can't repair it then he's gonna scrap the mosa unit and bolt a new genny onto the engine.

Anyone have any insight?

I was given a motorcycle alternator, a conversion uint, ALTON, made in France to look like a 1940's 50's dynamo, the regulator had gone wobbly bob and fried the alternator, lots of smoke, pretty coloured windings, was given to ma as scrap, I needed to make one fit inside a Sliver Hawk dynamo / distributor body, point is that although it looked scrap when I tested it there was nothing wrong, new regulator and away we went, saved me £300.00, looks can be deceiving …….

I pulled the stator off last night, it's fried. Anyone got a good MOSA dealer contact?

Alternatively, and IMO a better option, is to bolt a new generator on the engine, I'm thinking 6-8kVa with AVR would make a lovely generator to plug an inverter welder into. Not sure if it's got a 1" engine output shaft though or a 7/8", and most bare shaft generators of this size have 7/8" input.
Anyone able to find me something in the £300-£400 mark?

Opinions please? He wants to run an older Kemppi 140 inverter on it if we go genny-only, which ran fine on the MOSA generator which was non AVR.

Cheapest option is the non AVR Sincro 6kw.
Best option (to my mind currently) would be the AVR Sincro 6kw.
The Meccalte genny looks like it will need a flying lead made up, a bit of a bodge really.

If you're looking to run an inverter welder then I'd suggest an AVR, the non AVR alternator will probably be too spiky.
