MOSA- DC-HF. GAS Powered Welder ??

Hello , I live in Canada, I am interested in any Info. on a MOSA DC.-HF. Gas Powered Portable Welder.

On the name plate it states ; Frequency - 1400-2600 HZ.
: RPM. 3500-6500
:Starting Voltage - 60V.
Welding Voltage - 23-26V.
: Amperage- 70- 170 Amps.
Made in Milano, Italy .
MOTOSALDATRICI - 20090 CUSAGO- MILANO- ITALY :

If its old model try emailing them directly or ask if anyone who posts here has access the the dealer section, theres probably a list of service manuals for older machines listed somehere behind the "Login"....

Hello; I talked to a Miller Tech. here in Canada, He says these little portable Welders have a real sweet arc, Loud machines but with exceptional Welding abilities !!
That's about All I know , other than they are High Frequency up to 2600HZ.
cycle , 23-26V. welding & 170Amps.
Any Additional Info. would be greatly appreciated !!

If it's the set with a siamese type lead with a one piece plug into the machine, yes they weld O.K. but the noise!! With the odd leads you can't extend them - that combined with the engine noise and screaming high frequency output, absolute nightmare! W/A

Weldingartisan, Thanks; First what are Siamese Leads ? One piece plug into machine?? Also Why can't you extend them??

I ask these questions, as I have only seen a picture of the welder I was thinking of buying ! It's ten yrs. old & he wants $500.00 CAD.

nfinch86, You may have seen oxy-acetylene hoses that are moulded together and separate at the ends for connection. Well, the Mosa leads were similar with a moulded one piece plug for both connections into the machine and separating for the earth clamp and electrode holder. Now I'm not an electrician but I would guess that the high frequency output has not enough volts to cope with long leads, hence the odd plug arrangement. These sets were very small and lightweight and popular with the hire trade I believe, but a pain to use as you couldn't get away from the noise. I must stress that this was only one model, Mosa made/make many other sets. W/A

W/A Hi; I'm not too worried about noise, but one reason I was going buy It was as a mobile Weldor, I may need to spend half a day up a ladder.

I have a Lincoln 180 Mig, which is great for anything on or near the ground.
I also have a 1968 Lincoln Welder-Generator AC., It works great but being only AC. It restricts My choice of Electrodes!!
I was hopeing this small DC. welder could solve my problems. I'll have a look at It this week and see what It will do or not do ??

I don't think that machine was actually D.C. but high frequency A.C. It certainly was a much smoother arc than 50/60 Hz A.C. and it ran Nu5's (6011's) OK. Anyhow if it's not too far away certainly worth a look. W/A

W/A Hi; Yes it is DC. Only, I talked to the owner !
I'll go see it this week, also you said i could Not extend the cables ?
Not At All ? He lives 15 Minutes away , driving my truck. The reason I need DC. is to run Lo-Hi's ( E-7018's ) I've been running 7018-AC. Rods, they are useless !!!

I have that same welder and yes they are loud but they also do a very good job. right now mine is broke and needs rings and possible piston. have you found any dealers yet that arent in italy?

Is the ms 170 anything like the msg200?
