dont see my little bro that much so decided to make him a couple more presents to add to the little BT stove that I posted about the other week
Saturday is going to be a food n beer day, starting at lunch time. He has a BBQ that ive made for him so he could do with a couple of tools.
First up a blow stick to get the charcoal going. Itsva SS tube where dad turned up a brass rod for a mouth piece. Diamter was turned down to suit. Hole drilled for the tube then we free styled the rest of it. No Oman or drawing, just made it up as we went along. Polished up and it works a treat. Dad made all of it
Next up I wanted to make a little poker stick to move the charcoal around. I had some brass and titanium tube. This time I was given instruction to use the lathe.
I turned down a little bush to fit in the Ti tube. Drilled a hole for a brass rod I had. Fitted rod to bush as an interference fit after I ruling the outside of the bush. Proper rock solid join.
Then did same between bush and Ti tube and knocked into place. Proper good connection as it don't move. Polished it all up and then bent the front of the poker rod to suit.
Would have done it in SS but had to work with what we had at the time.
I'm happy as I had a lathing lesson to make something useful that little bro will find usefull.
On the blow stick, I ground the tool to my shape to make the grooves and dad showed my how to use the lathe.
I'm happy as its a result all round. I had a lesson from the master, and little bro (no interest in the engineering) has a present that hopefully becomes a hand me down
Saturday will be powred by BBQ then something cooked on the stove
