Well I'm halfway through blasting the 54 metal drawers and already burnt out one Henry, using it as a dust extractor. It did have an after market motor in it so can't blame Numatic. Luckily I'd rescued an almost new one from the back of the neighbour's estate before it went to the dump. I can't believe how fine the dust is that it sucks up but at least my nose keeps clean behind the dust mask. The problem I have now is static. Really bad static. Painful static. I can even light up a spark plug if I hold it by the tip and earth myself and could probably run the bloody lawnmower. Any ideas how I can get rid of it please. I was wondering if it's all the plastic on the Henry. All ideas welcome from the Oracle.

henrys are double insulated stand on a rubber mat when u are doing it my dogs famous for zapping u with static he got me mate 2day . he was sat in van with the window open me mate went up and they touched each others noses I saw the spark jump me mate went ow ya xxxxxxxx its painfull

the worst thing for static ive seen is a grain wagon getting filled with a blower and a big rubber hose. he had a long lead that clipped on the wagon to earth

Buy or make a cyclone dust collector to go between your cabinet and the henry. It will collect 99% of the dust and save you burning out another one. May help with the static too.

get a woodchip extracta and just suck the dust out and blow it outside thers not much to sweep up

Run a bit of bare copper wire inside the hose, earth it? Or the cyclone already suggested, make one out of metal and earth that too?

What a good Idea. I'm looking at those on Ebay for my table saw. Never occured to me to use one on the blaster.

Hello, I used a small plastic barrel with a clamp-on lid as a receiver for my ebay cyclone separator. The cyclone bolts onto the lid, the dust falls into the barrel. I rarely have to empty the vacuum cleaner bag. My vacuum is a Karcher "bee" but it had enough suck to completely flatten the barrel. I cut a plywood disc with central hole that fits inside to stop it collapsing. I also made a trolley so they stack on top of each other to save floor space. And castors...

I used to maintain and fix large laser printers ( Siemens ND2, consumed 14 KW and cost half a million quid ). Cleaning up the toner dust with a vacuum was a dangerous game, unless you used a Nilfisk vacuum cleaner with an earthed metal body, an earthed metal nozzle on the hose, and an earthed bare copper wire or braid down the inside of the hose.

I had to do a course to get engineering access to Tilbury Docks, static control was a part of it - they had multiple deaths because of static build-up igniting silos full of powder. Custard will explode quite actively and lift the concrete top off a building...
